Tuesday (23.04)

  • Barlova Science Night
    • Location: Barlova bar (in Jakobi Jalats rooms, entrance from Tähe 29 – right next to Barlova bar; map)
    • Time: 7 PM
    • Description: NASA scientists David R. Ciardi (NASA Exoplanet Science Institute) and Douglas M. Hudgins (NASA Ames Research Centre) will discuss breakthrough discoveries in exoplanet research and the search for potential habitats in space. Free atmosphere and drinks included!

Wednesday (24.04)

  • Conference dinner and tours at Tartu Observatory
    • Location: Tartu Observatory (Observatooriumi 1, Tõravere; map). Buses will go from Tartu city center to Tõravere and back.
    • Time: 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
      • 6:15 PM bus pick-up from Tartu, Teater Vanemuine lower parking lot (map)
      • 10:45 PM bus back to Tartu from Tõravere
    • Description: conference dinner and tours at Tartu Observatory. Includes 3 course meals, live music, tour of the 1.5m telescope and the space tech labs.
    • Fee: 40€ per person, with pre-registration.

Thursday (25.04)

  • Guided Tour at the Old Observatory
    • Location: Toome hill Old Observatory (Tartu Tähetorn, Uppsala 8; map)
    • Time: 8:00 PM
    • Description: join us for a captivating journey through Estonia’s astronomical history at the Toome hill Old Observatory. Discover Estonia’s first observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled in the heart of Tartu, atop the eastern slope of Toomemägi. We’ve arranged a 30 to 45-minute guided tour of the oldest observatory in Tartu, showcasing the renowned Fraunhofer refractor telescope.   • Toomemägi Light Show
    • Location: Toome Cathedral
    • Time: 9:00 pm, 9:30 pm, 10:00 pm, 10:30 pm, 11:00 pm (every 30 mins starting from 9:00 pm until 11:00 pm)
    • Description: following the Old Observatory tour, immerse yourself in the mesmerising Toomemägi Light Show at the Cathedral on Toome hill. Starting at 10:00 PM, this breathtaking display will run every 30 minutes, with the first show commencing at 9:00 PM (including an opening speech in Estonian) until 11:00 PM. Friday (26.04)

  • Barge trip on River Emajõgi
    • Location: Emajõe Lodjakoda on the banks of river Emajõgi (~30 min walk from VSpa; map)
    • Time: 3:30-5:00 PM
    • Description: extend your Tartu experience after the meeting with a unique opportunity for a boat trip on an old Viking barge along the picturesque River Emajõgi. Join us at Lodjakoda, located on the banks of the river Emajõgi (approximately a 30-minute walk from VSpa), from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The event includes a guided excursion from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by the barge trip from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
    • Free of charge, but please pre-register at info desk! Only 36 places are available!

    • Location: Toome Cathedral (map)
    • Time: Wed, Fri-Sun 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
    • Description: The University of Tartu Museum is located in the heart of Tartu – in the cathedral on Toome Hill – and its exhibitions present the history of the university and its research. Here, you will also find fascinating exhibits about Tartu Cathedral, the Crazy Scientist’s Lab and interesting temporary exhibitions. See more on https://muuseum.ut.ee/en/

Monday (22.04)

  • Art Exhibition Opening
    • Location: Tartu Art Museum (Raekoja plats 18; map)
    • Time: 6:00 PM
    • Description: Opening of a new art exhibition featuring works by local artists.
    • Free admission, no registration is required.

Wednesday (24.04)

  • Tartu Möku’s Lottery Wednesday
    • Location: Möku Bar (Möku, Magasini 5; map)
    • Time: 6:00 PM

Friday (26.04)

  • The opening ceremony of Baltic & Estonian Music Days (April 26-May 5): The Call Of Three Towers
    • Location: Toomemägi (map)
    • Time: 6:00-6:30 PM
    • Description: The towers of the Town Hall, The Old Observatory, and St. John’s Church will become a natural surround system to open the festival Baltic and Estonian Music Days with the premiere of composer Märt-Matis Lill’s new work “The Call of Emajõgi.” The audience will be treated to an experience that includes a unique ensemble and unexpected harmonies with the surrounding urban nature.

  • Student’s Night Song Festival
    • Location: Tartu Lumepark (Narva maantee 171, 51009 Tartu; map)
    • Time: 8:00 PM until 12:00 AM
    • Description: join the excitement as the Tartu Student Days festival commences, featuring the highly anticipated Student Night Song Festival. Love for Estonian music fills the air as the Vox pUNT vocal ensemble and a specially assembled band take the stage with beloved songs from both newer and older times and will make the Night Song Festival unforgettable.
    • Ticket: 5 euros, you can buy it online or at the concert site.

  • Finno-Ugric disco
    • Location: Möku Bar / Genklubi (Magasini 5; map)
    • Time: 8:00 PM until 01:00 AM
    • Description: Hõimulõimed invites you to celebrate Mari Hero Day! During the evening, as usual, only songs in Finno-Ugric languages will be heard. During star hour you’ll be able to get the most out of Mari music world, hear the difference between Hill Mari and Meadow Mari and dance until you’re out of breath.
    • Ticket: 5 euros (standard) / 3 euros (discount: < 18 years, students, disabled people). NB! Payment at the site in cash.
